The new Orsi & Weir
Varese Clarinets are the result of a close collaboration
between Orsi and Weir in Canada and the Orsi Company
in Italy. Jointly manufactured by Orsi in Italy and
the new Orsi and Weir facility in Canada, the Orsi & Weir
Varese clarinets are available in two acoustical
identities, the American style and the Euro style.
The unique acoustics
of the Orsi & Weir Varese
clarinets are the result of extensive long-term testing
in studio and professional playing environments.
The focused beauty of the Varese sound, combined
with a balanced and even resistance throughout the
registers, is a revelation to both player and listener.
It’s characteristics provide an easy adaptation
when the clarinetist is moving from another clarinet
brand, and the Varese integrates seamlessly into
any modern clarinet section.
The beautifully crafted
and fitted keywork, created from Microfusion components,
is very strong and ergonomically shaped. It comes
silver-plated as standard. Included are unique features
such as our inverted lever key linkage, a combination
adjustable thumb rest/strap hook, and independently
mounted top trill keys. All the tapered point pivot
screws are hand fit.

The stabilized African
grenadilla wood used for Orsi & Weir clarinets
has undergone years of aging using a highly effective,
proprietary system developed by the Orsi Company
over a history which dates back to 1836. This system
limits dimensional changes and cracking of the wood
is very much minimized. As well, the Varese clarinets
are available cocobolo wood, offering a wonderful
sounding alternative.
A wide variety of
setup options are available including use of cork,
bladder, or Valentino pads. Each Varese clarinet
is padded and adjusted to a professional standard
direct from our factory, so you can expect long-term
life from the original set-up. This allows the player
to evaluate a new Varese clarinet for it’s true attributes
right from the start. And the Orsi & Weir Varese
clarinets receive consistently positive evaluations!
